Thompson cuts prompt recruitment drive

BECTU has been handing out membership forms to BBC staff in a bid to boost the union's bargaining strength when cuts talks begin.

Officials are hoping that non-members at the BBC will be persuaded to join the union, in the face of upheavals that could threaten thousands of staff.
